The skerry is named after Anton Eklund. He was an enterprising person who in the 1930s had a fish smokery near the skerry. On the seashore on the opposite side of the bay the old and the new meet; there are remnants of a seaplane jetty built during WW1 and a modern windmill park built in 2021.
