In the eastern harbour of Mariehamn you will find the Maritime Quarter, a living marine centre with boat building activity, a smithy and other handicrafts and a marina for ships and boats. You can visit our Ship and Boat building Museum and the Museum of historical marine engines. There is an exhibition of historical work boats in the Beacon, a copy of the former beacon at the Kobba Klintar pilot station. Stroll around the boat harbour, with wooden boats, sheds and boat-houses. Furthest out on the breakwater a Seafarers’ chapel is built. The galleass Albanus, the schooner Linden and the sailing wellboat Jehu were built in the Maritime Quarter and some thirty other wooden boats of various kinds have also been built here. The building of the yacht Alanta has started in June 2017 and is now almost ready. At the moment building of the sailing boat Emelia is going on and is planned to be finished in the year 2025. In the Maritime Quarter there are five workshops from which you can buy Åland handicrafts of highest quality. Our restaurantboat m/s Sunnan II and Pub Niska is serving food during the summer period.
In the area there are also markets and events during the year.
