Kastelholm’s Forest Trail (Skogsstigen) and Seaside Trail (Strandstigen) start both by the mighty beech forest dating back to the early 1930s. After the forest you can either take Strandstigen (about 5 km) which mainly follows Lumparn’s shoreline, or you can choose the slightly shorter Skogsstigen (about 2.5 km).

If you choose Strandstigen you will go hiking along Lumparn’s seaside with a view of, among other things, Färjsundet and Slottssundet sounds. The trail leads to an old fishing hut at Småholmarna. On the way back, the path follows the shore of Tjudnäs lake.

The slightly shorter forest trail goes mainly through varied forest terrain. Here you can see a selection of the most common natural habitats in Åland, from fertile groves with rare deciduous trees to barren hills and forest impediments. Along the trail there are also a number of foreign tree species, which are marked with nameplates.
